About the University
Lumina Medical University was founded to close the gap between classical medical education and the practical, technology-driven demands of modern healthcare.
Our History
Lumina Medical University was established in 2022 in Astana, Kazakhstan, by a group of physicians, academics and public health specialists who saw the need for a new kind of medical school — one built from day one around clinical simulation, digital learning tools and international partnerships.
In its first year, LMU opened its Faculty of General Medicine and Faculty of Dentistry, followed by the Faculty of Pharmacy in 2023. The university received its state education license in 2022 and institutional accreditation from the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) in 2024.
Today, LMU serves more than 1,200 students from Kazakhstan and abroad, supported by over 80 faculty members and a growing network of teaching hospitals and clinics across Astana.

To educate highly qualified, ethical and research-minded physicians, dentists and pharmacists who improve the health of the people of Kazakhstan and the wider region through excellence in education, clinical practice and science.
